Strategic objective

The purpose of this role is to participate in growing the business volume and profitability through new and repeat business opportunities by delivering excellent service standards and best practice in commercial & contractual advice, business support and promoting other service offerings.

The Outcomes

  • The Senior Consultant/Commercial Manager will:
  • Objectively review information provided by clients and develop strategic advice on entitlements and culpability
  • Produce robust objective advice on commercial & contractual commissions based on information provided by clients, in accordance with the brief for the particular commission
  • Prepare documents and reports to support programme delay analysis exercises to assist clients in prosecuting or rebutting claims
  • Prepare reports, narratives and documents in connection with all aspects of contractual and commercial rights and obligations in accordance with the brief for the particular commission
  • Promote best practice in record keeping & contract administration, governance and sound commercial management of construction & engineering projects
  • Work collaboratively with Commercial Risk Management personnel, clients’ staff & other representatives in preparing deliverables for commissions

The Individual

The Senior Consultant/Commercial Manager will have the following skills and attributes as a minimum:

  • Minimum 20 years Construction Industry experience in building and/or civil engineering
  • Familiarity with standard construction industry contract forms and appreciation of risk allocation
  • Strong contractual, commercial and technical knowledge base
  • Problem solving and solution provision focused
  • Report writing and presentation of methodology, techniques and findings to third parties
  • Commercial leadership and ability to work as part of an integrated team
  • Strong negotiating skills and track record
  • Good interpersonal written and oral communication skills
  • Strong industry reputation and network of contacts
  • An ambassador for the business
  • Trustworthy
  • Independent & self-motivated
  • Professional
